the syntax of the authrq.conf file is:

-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-
The authorisations list for one mac address begin by the mac address
into brackets. All the next values are ip hosts address or ip networks
address (with /xx notion):
[<MAC_ADRESS> <DEVICE>] <IP_ADRESS> <IP_ADRESS>/<BITS>
-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-

The authrq.conf file is used for generating alert when any machines try to
communicate with other machines.

the file with authorized mac adresses list is maclist.allow.

to see alerts, can can configure arpalert with this options:
daemon = false
log level = 7 (or 6)

in normal case, errors in configuration file are send on standard error
output.
